Feng Shui

Form and Compass – Yin and Yang Schools

There are various schools of Feng Shui and all of them are effective at improving an individuals home and work life.  Some can be more effective than others as they bring into account differing energies.

As with all things it is important to choose a practitioner that we feel confident in and I am always happy to chat, so you can feel into whether we can work together.

I have been a student of Feng Shui for more years than I can count, but I found that there was still that sense of illusiveness in understanding the core concepts and that there was hidden knowledge that only gets passed from Master to student.  I was not wrong and when I did eventually come across my Feng Shui Master a couple of years ago, I felt honoured and privileged that he was willing to impart his wisdom in true apprenticeship style. I later found out, that the school of Feng Shui I was studying was one of a dying form.  That of Form and Compass School and also the Yin School

A little more of the type of Feng Shui that I consult on…

Type’s of Feng Shui

The Form School

Takes into account the external surroundings, here we are looking for the Turtles, Dragons, Tigers and Phoenix and then translate how they might affect your property.  In Vietnam where I studied in 2018 this is easy to do, large mountain forms help you see the visual and how the energies flow, rivers meander and show how they embrace the land.  In towns and cities this can be more challenging, they are however still in evidence the difference being that they are man made instead of nature made, you just need to look with Feng Shui Eyes 😊.

The Compass school

This uses the natal information of the individual and also the building to calculate the optimum locations for the cookers, fire, boiler, front door and also sleep positions.  It requires a deeper understanding of the core principles and how they can affect the environment and is very powerful and from reviewing case studies rarely wrong, if ever.

It has also become apparent in my studies that many of the old Masters that practice this type of Feng Shui have passed away and those that do still practice it can be unwilling to part with their knowledge, as such finding those will to teach it can be a challenge especially with a language barrier as well.

Yang feng shui

All Feng Shui that deals with the living is Yang Feng Shui, it deals with the energy of the living and how we interact with it and how it interacts with us. House locations, internal and external surroundings and what is placed or needed in these environments.  It is the place for the active and the vibrant.

Yin feng shui

This is the realm of the ancestors and Yin Feng Shui deals extensively with ancestral burial grounds. I was very fortunate to be able to begin my studies on this whilst in Vietnam and went around several sites to see how the energies work.

It is said to be particularly effective for the male descendants of a family and this is because in the East the energies are still very much in a patriarchal system.  This is something that I am studying closely as the energies are becoming much more balanced.

One interesting fact that may interest some those of a curious nature.  Whilst visiting sites, we went to one of the old kingdoms burial locations in Vietnam, those burial sites where all exactly 180 degrees from where we are learning them to be.

Yin feng shui is a long and complex path to study and my journey has only just begun.  It is absolutely fascinating.

The important question, how can Feng Shui help you and is it magic?

Lets start with the last question there, no it’s not magic.  It is however much more complex than people give it credit for and so it is easier to say it’s magic and mysticism, in the east in the old times Feng Shui was only studied by those who had schooling and could understand not only the principles of mathematics but also the subtle energies of the earth.  Today Feng Shui is becoming much more widely accepted yet again, it is still however no less complex.

How can Feng Shui help you and what’s involved?

My consultations take all my years of learning and intuitiveness into account and not just the Feng Shui aspect of it.  I sense the energies of the land which aids in my ability to give you as accurate a consultation as possible.  If needed I can bring my ability to work with these energies into effect using crystals and geomancy as required.

When you book, I start by collecting all the dates of birth of individuals living in the house and also the date the house was built if known.  A date is set in the diary at the time of booking for me to come around and take further readings using my compass and also to see where key items are located in the house, Beds/Cookers/Boilers etc.

I will then leave with you information on the sleeping positions of everyone in the property and if they are positive or negative positions.  If negative I will go away and consult my almanac to locate the correct date to move the bed.  I will also inform you of what are called the 3 negative years that we all have and that cycle through every 12 years.

I will then produce approximately a 4 page report on the findings and what if anything needs to be done to alleviate these and also further information on the negative years and how they can also be offset slightly to reduce their impact on us.
